Nebraska Departmentof Environmental Quality
NDEQ was established in 1971, as the state agency responsible for the protection and enhancement of our environment. The agency received authorization to carry out much of the framework of our environmental laws in 1972. Over the past quarter century, many additional state and federal laws have been passed as we have developed greater recognition of the extent of environmental issues which must be addressed. NDEQ's role and responsibilities have likewise grown over the years.
